eMule

eMule is a file-sharing client built on the eDonkey2000 network, offering enhanced features beyond the standard client.

It connects through multiple networks—ED2K, Source Exchange, and Kad—to form a stable and efficient file-sharing environment. The Kad network is currently undergoing open testing. eMule uses a queue and credit system to reward users who upload files, helping to ensure fair access and faster downloads for everyone.

This software is completely free and does not include any adware, spyware, or similar unwanted programs. It’s developed purely out of passion and for educational purposes—not for profit.

During downloads, eMule checks files for corruption to maintain integrity, with its Intelligent Corruption Control helping to quickly fix any damaged parts. Automatic priority settings and source management allow users to manage multiple downloads efficiently without constant supervision.

A preview feature lets you view video files and archives before they’re fully downloaded; for best results, the developers recommend using the Video LAN Client. eMule also includes web services and a built-in web server, giving users convenient remote access.

To help with organization, users can categorize their downloads. Searching for files is flexible, with options to search through local and global servers, web-based tools like Jigle and Filedonkey, and the Kad network. eMule supports advanced Boolean search operators for more refined queries.

Social features include a messaging and friends system, allowing users to communicate and see when friends are online. It also includes an integrated IRC client for chatting with other users and communities worldwide.
