Pandion
Pandion is a well-known instant messaging application for Windows that enables users to chat with friends using accounts from services like MSN, Yahoo, or MSN Messenger. It includes a rich text editor for enhanced messaging and supports file sharing between users. While it is primarily used for chatting through online services such as IRC, Xanga, or MySpace, Pandion can also be downloaded and installed directly on Windows computers. However, installing it does not provide access to Windows Internet Mail.
If you want to chat through a Windows mail server, you’ll need to either install third-party POP3/SMTP server software or make use of Windows' native IMAP and POP/SMTP features. This guide focuses on using Pandion in conjunction with Windows Mail.
To access your Windows IMAP account:
- Open the Start Menu and select Run.
- In the dialog box, type msconfig (without quotes) and press Enter.
- Once the system configuration window appears, click on the Search icon.
- Type mail in the search box and press Enter.
After following these steps, a window will appear with a default message indicating that your account is new and ready for creating and editing emails. At this stage, avoid changing other settings—just delete any pre-existing messages if necessary.
Next, navigate to the Contacts tab, where your email address should be visible. Click on the Send button to view all newly received messages from that account.
