Viber

Viber is a widely used, free Voice over IP (VoIP) service and a strong alternative to Skype, available for both smartphones and PCs. The desktop version brings the convenience of mobile Viber to your computer, allowing you to stay in touch even without your phone and making it easier to communicate while working or multitasking.

As one of the top cross-platform messaging apps—alongside WhatsApp—Viber enables communication with anyone in your phone’s contact list who also uses the app, unlike Skype, which requires adding contacts manually. You can make voice calls, send texts, share photos and videos, and even host group video calls with up to 100 participants, all at no cost. Its user-friendly interface enhances the overall experience. Apps like Viber and WhatsApp have largely replaced traditional SMS thanks to ease of use and growing data availability.

Getting Started on Windows:

To use Viber on a Windows PC, you first need to install the app on your mobile phone (compatible with Android, iOS, Blackberry, Symbian, and Windows Phone). After that, download and install the desktop version on your PC and log in to sync your contacts between devices. Once set up, you can start messaging and calling freely.

Viber Out: Calling Landlines and Non-App Users:

If you want to call people who aren't using Viber (such as landlines or mobile numbers without the app), you can use the Viber Out service. These calls aren't free, but the rates are affordable. Just add credit to your Viber account to make these calls. Call quality is typically excellent, provided you have a stable internet connection.
